WiFi Communication Module Feasibility Study
Proof-of-concept WiFi module — hardware, firmware, and webserver — evaluating wireless data transmission for an existing device line.
- Guided an intern through hardware, firmware, and webserver development
- Built a concept for remote device-data transmission over WiFi
- Assessed technical feasibility and integration into the existing device architecture
- Technologies: WiFi, embedded TCP/IP, webserver, OTA updates
Context
For existing devices, it had to be investigated whether wireless data transmission through a WiFi module could be implemented in a meaningful way.
My Role
I supervised an intern during the development of a WiFi communication module with hardware, firmware and webserver.
Technical Challenge
The project was designed as a proof of concept. It had to show whether wireless communication could be technically integrated into the existing device environment.
Solution
A concept with hardware, firmware and webserver was created for remote transmission of device data. My role was technical guidance, architecture coordination and evaluation of feasibility.
Impact
The project provided a basis for evaluating wireless communication for existing industrial devices.
